Jeremiah 18:1-4 - “This is the word that came to Jeremiah from the Lord: ‘Go down to the potter’s house, and there I will give you my message.’ So I went down to the potter’s house, and I saw him working at the wheel. But the pot he was shaping from the clay was marred in his hands; so the potter formed it into another pot, shaping it as seemed best to him.” “You’re such a failure!” Maybe you’ve heard these cruel words - maybe you haven’t. But I bet you’ve thought them. Me too. Satan loves for us to think wrong things, and he’s only too happy to supply those lies. He wants us to bel;ieve that the sin we do ruins us beyond repair. And he heaps shame on us to seal the deal. But the truth is that as long as you and I are breathing we are still on the Master Potter’s wheel. And He can do miracles. He can remake what sin ruins. Yep, He’s that able and that good! Best of all, He wants to restore us. It’s why He doesn’t discard the “clay” when it gets “marred” (another translation of the word “marred” is “ruined”). He takes it, reworks it, and what looked to be a terrible failure becomes a vessel useful for the Master’s plans and glorifying to His Person. So if you’ve become “marred” by your choices, take heart. We have great hope as believers. Repent, breathe deep, and surrender yourself to the hands of the Potter Who passionately loves you and will joyfully reshape and restore you. He never gives up on His own!
