Philippians 1:6 - “being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.” This is an amazing truth: God is a God Who finishes. He never gets side-tracked or distracted. He never throws in the towel. He never simply gives in to what appears to be a tough looking project. And if you are a Christian, then that is incredible news for you. This means that God is never going to give up on you or walk back His commitment to you or change His mind about you. Never! Why? Because He made a promise to you. The Apostle Paul wrote today’s Scripture under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit, which means that God wanted him to say this and God wanted you and I to know it. And God always keeps His Word. When we decide to do life our way instead of God’s way, and then we inevitably end up crashing and burning, we can start to believe the lies of the Enemy. You’ve heard them: “You’re too far gone.” “You’re too damaged.” “God can’t forgive or use you ever again.” “God is pretty angry at you.” “He’s done with you.” On and on they go. Satan has a ton of them and he’ll use them against you effectively, as long as you believe him. But today’s Scripture tells us that none of them are true. God, in fact, is far from done with you. He gave you His Word and He means to keep it. So the next time you find yourself in a spot that feels like God has moved on from you to someone more “promising”, remind yourself of what is true. God is a God Who finishes what He starts. And that, thankfully, includes you and me.
