I Corinthians 10:11 - “These things happened to them as examples and were written down as warnings for us.” “Warnings” are important because they are meant to tell us of trouble that’s coming, of danger that is up ahead, of something that could cause a negative consequence in our life. Good parents do this all of the time for their children. Why? Because they love them and don’t want them to get hurt. Warnings express real love and concern and the desire for good to the person being warned. That is precisely what is behind all of the warnings God gives to us throughout His Word. He warns us because of His great love for us. He doesn’t want us to experience the hurt and pain of disobedience. That’s Satan’s desire. Satan wants us to ignore God’s words of warning and plow head-long into the very destruction God is trying to keep us from. So what warning has God been giving to you? Are you listening? Are you acting on it? Or has Satan convinced you to look the other way and disregard what the Spirit of God has been speaking to your heart? God’s love is in His warnings. The only smart play is to pay attention and obey.
