God Satisfies The Thirsty

Pslm 107:9 - “for He satisfies the thirsty.”  “I’m going to drink this entire cup of sand to quench my thirst.” - said no one ever! Why? Because we all know that sand doesn’t have the ability to satisfy a person’s thirst. Drink all the sand you want and you will still walk away thirsty - and even worse. Sand will only increase your thirst. Drinking in the wrong things will do that. What’s true in the physical realm is also true in the spiritual realm. How often do we run after things that we think will satisfy our soul-thirst for meaning and fulfillment, only to find out (again) that after the “drinking” is done we are still left thirsty. Today’s Scripture reminds us of the only True Source of soul-quenching satisfaction. It’s found in the One Who made our souls in the first place. “He satisfies” - the word is constructed in such a way that it means this is what He does continually forever. God’s satisfying is ongoing and total. Nothing else and no one else can match His ability to reach down inside of you to the places that are empty, barren, and bone-dry and to flood them with life-giving soul satisfaction. So the obvious question is this: are you thirsty? That is the only requirement - to admit your need and to come to Him with your heart open, ready to receive what He longs to give you. He is the God Who satisfies the thirsty. You have His Word on it.
