Make It Personal

Romans 8:38-39 - “For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.” The list here is long and all-encompassing. It’s meant to be. And in case we still have any reservations about the power of God’s love for us to outweigh, outlast, and completely overwhelm any obstacle in our lives, the apostle Paul wraps it up with “anything else in all creation”. That puts an exclamation mark on all of it! That’s how serious God is about our understanding His unstoppable love for us, His children. And here’s the power in that for you and me each day: we can make it personal. Think of the things that come against you. The things that Satan tries to use to convince you that God’s love for you is starting to wear thin. Name them. Call them out. It might be a difficult person or a hard situation or even your own thoughts of self-accusation and condemnation. Identify them and then put them in the verse: “For I am convinced that neither _________ nor _________ nor _________.” Keep going until they are all in there. Then finish it: “not even _________ will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.” That is what is absolutely true, forever. God said so. Live in the security of that today!
