Jonah 1:4 - “Then the Lord sent a great wind on the sea, and such a violent storm arose that the ship threatened to break up.” Jonah was on the run from God, choosing to go as far away from God’s assignment for him as he could. So God sent a storm right in his path. And what looked like a disaster would ultimately turn out to be for Jonah’s deliverance from his self-destructive path of disobedience (you can read the full story in the book of Jonah - it’s a quick read). Think about it. If God had let Jonah continue on his path of choice he would’ve gone further and further away from God’s design and purpose for his life, he would’ve missed out on being a part of one of the greatest revival stories in the entire Old Testament, and he would’ve ended up with a wasted life and a ton of regret. God loved Jonah too much to let him do that. So He sent a storm to stop him, to redirect him, to bring him to a place of repentance, and to bring him back to his God-given purpose. What looked like a storm was actually God giving Jonah a second chance. Is there a “storm” in your life today - something dark and hard and chaotic? That “storm” has not caught God unaware. He sees. He knows. And maybe, like Jonah, God wants to use it in your life not to sink you but to rescue you, to redirect you, and to get you to the exact place where He wanted you all along. So don’t look at the storm - look at the One Who is over the storm. And remember that the storm is no match for your God. He can use that storm however He wants - even as a second chance.
