John 17:24a - “Father, I desire that they also, whom You have given Me, may be with Me where I am.” This verse is such an amazing request by Jesus. Here He is asking that those whom God the Father had given Him would be “with” Him. This request expressed a deep desire for Jesus. And if you are a Christian, this is Jesus’ heart for you (see vss. 20-21). Jesus wants you to be “with” Him forever. Let that land on you. Jesus desires you to be with Him! I don’t know about you, but there are days when I don’t even want to be with me. And yet Jesus - Who knows me and you completely - says that it's His desire for us to be with Him always. At the bottom of everything it means to be a Christian is this profound desire: Jesus wants you to be with Him. This is Divine desire. And because it comes from the infinite God it is an infinite desire. There is never an expiration date on it, never a chance that it will change. This is the heart of Jesus for you today, tomorrow, and beyond. So regardless of what kind of day you are having or how you are feeling about yourself or the pain that threatens to throw you off course, this truth stands tall and immovable. Jesus’ desire is for you and for you to be with Him. Now and always.
