The Power of His Promise

Psalm 119:154 - “Plead my cause and redeem me; revive me according to Your Word.” Do you need God to stand up for you against attacks made at you? Do you need Him to rescue you from some troubling and threatening situation? Do you need Him to usher in a time of deep refreshing and renewing to your soul? Then the words of today’s Scripture are for you. This is a prayer you can pray along with the psalmist. And here is the power of it: you can ask for these things not on the basis of you deserving them or because you think they would be beneficial to God or His plan. You can ask for these things confidently because of the last line in this verse: “according to Your Word.” You can come to God with these earnest requests because God has said that He would do them. He promised. C.H. Spurgeon comments on these words: “What a mighty plea is this - ‘according to Thy Word’ - No gun in all our arsenal can match it.” God is always, always good to His Word. What He promises He performs. So come to your Heavenly Father with your needs, your concerns, your weary and troubled heart. You are His beloved. And let Him come alongside you and do for you all that He has promised. All of it, according to His Word.
