“Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding.” - Proverbs 3:5. The “lean not on your own understanding” part of this verse is so hard sometimes, but so important. As human beings we often pride ourselves on being able to figure things out, to fully grasp a situation, to connect all of the dots and see the big picture. But God tells us a different way to live. There will be times in our lives and in our walks with Jesus when we won’t be able to do any of that. We don’t understand the hard circumstances we find ourselves in. We can’t reason our way out of it. We aren’t able to make sense of any part of it. It’s during those times - which come to all of us - that God tells us what to do. We need to stop trying to put the weight of it on ourselves and on our own limited intellectual abilities and instead to put the full weight of it on Him. To trust Him completely - “with all your heart”. That move is a choice. And it’s a choice we can make - one we must make. To help us get there is our understanding of just Who our “Lord” is. He is the King of all, perfect in wisdom and power and goodness. There is none more intentional and strategic than He. And as His child, all of Who He is will always be working towards your good. The enemy wants you to believe otherwise. The good news is that as a Christian you have the power of choice. You have just as much ability to believe God’s truth as you do to believe Satan’s lies. You and I can choose to obey today’s Scripture. We can fully trust God -  with every situation we can understand and with every one we can’t. He is worthy of our trust.
