“The Lord is trustworthy in all he promises and faithful in all he does.” - Psalm 145:13b. The Bible is filled with promises that are made by God to His children. But here is the key thing about promises: they are only as good and reliable as the one who makes them. Obvious but so very true. If I “promise” to give you one million dollars, that sounds like a great promise, but it’s completely empty because I don’t have the resources to back it up (sorry!). God does not suffer from that issue - ever. He has at His fingertips everything He needs to back up everything He promises. Plus, because He is sovereign over all things and all people, there is no situation that is ever beyond His reach. This means we can completely rely on God’s promises to us because He rules over anything that could hinder them from being fulfilled. The promises of God coupled with the Person of God give us real hope, even when our circumstances look like the opposite is true. Nothing can keep God from keeping His promises to You.
