But when the set time had fully come, God sent His Son” - Galatians 4:4a. Christmas - the celebration of the birth of Jesus - tells us something very important about God and something mindful for us. First, it tells us that God keeps His promises. If you walk through the opening genealogy of Jesus in Mathew you will see that it took a long time, a very long time, for the promised Messiah to be born, But Jesus was born - just as God promised. And even though it seemed that perhaps God had forgotten about His promise, He never did. Jesus arrived at the exact right time. Christmas came on schedule - on God’s schedule. Which brings us to you and me. Inevitably, when it comes to many of God’s promises in our lives, His timing and our timing are very different. And as a result, we become discouraged and wonder what happened or where God is or if we did something wrong. We must remember that we can’t put God on our calendar and then get angry at Him when it seems He misses the date. Because God is all wise, good, loving, and perfect, His timing is all of those as well. Christmas reminds us that we have a faithful God Who always keeps His promises and does so for our good, in His ways, and according to His schedule. You can trust His timing. Merry Christmas!
